There is an easy identification method between domestic Japanese raisin tree (Hovenia dulcis var. koreana) and Chinese/Japanese raisin tree (Hovenia dulcis) with naked eyes. The petiole of the domestic tree is reddish and 3~7.6cm long. But the petiole of the Chinese tree is 1.5~1.8cm without reddish color.
From the patterns of the DNA band, the domestic raisin tree and Japanese/Chinese raisin tree are completely different species

The extract of xylem has the excellent reducing effect of blood alcohol level. But, on the Chart A above, the activation of alcohol dissolution enzyme is not shown. So the extract of the xylem does not activate the alcohol dissolution enzyme in human body. When the extract directly is put into alcohol to examine whether the extract of the xylem dissolves alcohol or not, there is no alcohol dissolution effect on the Chart B above.
Therefore the rumor, which alcoholic drinks become water when the Japanese raisin tree is put in the drink, is not true.
